Curriculum
The programs at Topeka Lutheran School are well-balanced to promote each child's academic, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual development. Our elementary school offers a rich and varied curriculum based on the guidelines of the State of Kansas and the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Our students learn to recognize Jesus Christ as the one and only means by which we are saved. Through daily Bible instruction and weekly chapel services, students develop greater Biblical understanding and are encouraged to use the teachings of Jesus Christ as a guide for daily living.

In addition to core subjects (English, reading / literature, spelling, math / algebra, social studies and science), an education at TLS includes:
Music
TLS students take general music in grades K through 4, including learning to play the recorder in grade 4. TLS students participate in choir (required) and band (optional) in grades 5 through 8. The school has several band instruments available for rental at a reasonable cost. Musicals and music programs are presented throughout the school year. In addition, the choirs carol annually to area nursing homes and sing at various local events (e.g., retiree groups, church services, etc.). Students are encouraged to participate in the Gathering of the Talents (GOTT) music contest in Seward, Nebraska. In addition, the school participates in music contests at Cair Paravel Latin School, Topeka. For more information on the music program, contact Mrs. Oatsvall at oatsvall@topekalutheran.org

Science
The kindergarten class students incubate fertilized eggs, turn the eggs daily and watch them hatch. Middle school science class students participate in the Kansas StarBase program at Forbes Field and the annual egg drop competition at the Capitol rotunda sponsored by the American Society of Engineers, build and launch hot air balloons and rockets, collect caterpillars and watch the metamorphosis to butterflies, etc. For more information on the science program, contact Mr. Malone at malone@topekalutheran.org.

Math
In addition to the math classes offered, TLS sponsors a Math Club after school.  For more information, contact Mrs. Kosmicki at kosmicki@topekalutheran.org.
