K-8 POLICIES AND REQUIREMENTS

Topeka Lutheran School is eager to provide a Christian education for the children of any interested family.  Because Topeka Lutheran School doesn’t have special education classes, the school may not be able to meet all children’s needs. 

Topeka Lutheran School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.

Entrance Requirements:

  • Each new pupil must fill out an application form supplying information needed for transfer of the pupil's permanent record.

  • Students entering Kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before August 31 of the school year.  Any first Grade child is eligible to attend who will be 6 years old on or before August 31 of the school year.

  • Children entering a Kansas school for the first time shall be immunized as required by Kansas Statute prior to entrance to school.

  • If transferring from another school, students may not attend classes until transcripts have been received.

  • All enrollments are conditional for the first six weeks to determine if Topeka Lutheran School can serve the educational needs of the child and to evaluate the grade placement.

  • The scholastic rating of the school previously attended will be honored.

  • Children shall conduct themselves as becomes Christian children, so that under the instruction, training, and admonition of the faculty they will also be a positive spiritual influence on other children.

  • Children shall comply with all rules and regulations of the school, so as to insure operation of the school in an efficient and orderly manner.

  • Continued enrollment in the school shall be conditioned by the child’s academic, social and emotional behavior.

  • Parents must cooperate with the school as together they work to serve the best interest of each child. In the event of disagreements and misunderstandings, the rules of Matthew 18 shall serve as our Christian guidelines in coming to a God-pleasing solution.

ENROLLMENT FEE, TUITION & OTHER FEES

Enrollment Fee

The enrollment fee is $215.00 for K-8. This fee will cover the cost of all textbooks, workbooks, and instructional materials. 

The enrollment fee of $215.00 must be paid on or before Registration Day unless special arrangements have been made through the Principal. If you are unable to be present on Registration Day, contact the office to register prior to the beginning of school.  Tuition is due by the 10th of each month.

Tuition, Financial Assistance & FAMILY SUPPORT

The tuition rate is $6,800.00 per student for the 2019-2020 School Year.

Tuition Financial Assistance is available to all families. Please contact the school office or one of the Association churches for additional information.  

The churches which form the Association contribute a monthly support fee to families of varying amounts, depending on church membership.

Your family may automatically qualify for one of the following discounts:

  • $500.00 grant for each new student to Topeka Lutheran School

  • $1,000.00 grant per family if a student is referred by a current Topeka Lutheran family - A $1,000.00 grant for the referring family and a $1,000.00 grant for the referee family.

AFTER SCHOOL CARE

After school care is available from 3:35 - 6:00 for K-8 students. Children who have not been picked up by 3:35 PM will automatically go to After School Care.  

After school care rates: 

  • 3:35 - 4:00 $3.00 per student, $  5.00 for 2 kids, $ 6.00 for  3+ kids

  • 3:35 - 4:30 $5.00 per student, $  7.00 for 2 kids, $10.00 for 3+ kids

  • 3:35 - 6:00 $7.00 per student, $11.00 for 2 kids, $12.00 for 3+ kids

HOT LUNCH PROGRAM

TLS participates in the National School Lunch Program. A hot lunch is available every school day. 

  • Milk is included with every hot lunch

  • Student Lunch - $2.90

  • Adult/Guest Lunch - $3.60

  • Extra Milk - $0.50

The office should be notified by 9:00 AM to order visitor lunches. Prices may be subject to change as necessary.
