Rachel Kathman

Middle School Teacher

Years at TLS: 2016-present

Education: B.S., Secondary Education with concentrations in English and English as a Second Language (Concordia University Nebraska)

Mrs. Kathman is the middle school English Language Arts teacher. She has read approximately 87,563 books, so if you're looking for something new to read, you can be sure she has a recommendation. If you don't find her in her classroom, she can either be found exploring faraway lands (such as Narnia and China) or correcting the grammar in advertisements and slogans.

Mrs. Kathman also loves God, roller skating, stuffed animals, and Mr. Kathman. While his beard may make him look like a lumberjack, Mr. K is actually a special education teacher at another school. They were assigned field experience together while at Concordia University Nebraska, and he fell in love at first sight when she managed to instantly quiet the children they were attempting to teach.

What 3 words would you use to describe yourself? Caring, bookworm, explorer.

If you had a time machine that only worked once what time in history would you visit and why? I would travel to 1902 to thank President Theodore Roosevelt for not shooting the poor bear that was tied down for him to hunt and thus starting an excellent tradition of creating stuffed "Teddy's bears" to cuddle with.

If you were to star in a cartoon (real or fictional) what would the name of the cartoon be? Mr. and Mrs. Kathman's Excellent Adventure
