How has your education at Topeka Lutheran School prepared you for your life?

As I was going through my education at Topeka Lutheran School, I felt like my teachers did a wonderful job of preparing me for not only high school but also my future profession (although I didn’t realize it at the time) as a teacher. I remember doing countless worksheets and practice exercises, especially in English with Mrs. Schaefer. This not only provided me with a great base for writing and reading but also inspired my career as an English teacher. My science class with Mr. Malone allowed for me to see the importance of hands on learning as we did several experiments that challenged us intellectually and made learning fun. The compassion and passion demonstrated by my teachers serves as an example for me and how I want to treat my students. These, among many other experiences at TLS, have helped to mold me into the teacher that I am now.

What is one thing you would want people to know about Topeka Lutheran School that they might not think about?

TLS encourages several chances for mentoring throughout the time students are there. Multiple opportunities to buddy up with underclassmen give upperclassmen the chance to be involved in positive relationships while showing students what it is to be a good role model. Specifically, participating as a “Chapel Buddy” was a relationship that I looked forward to both as an underclassman and upperclassman. It allowed me to form relationships and be a positive impact in many lives.

How has the teaching and modeling of Jesus' salvation received at Topeka Lutheran School impacted your trust in the Lord?

In my adult life, I now feel very fortunate to have developed a strong base of faith at TLS which has allowed me to feel confident in my habits and relationships now.

Please list some accomplishments that you have achieved since leaving TLS.
